Finance
The Commissioner of Finance has executive control and word closely with the bookkeepers/accountant. The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the daily financial records of the Village and provides bi-weekly reports to the Village Board. The bookkeeper leo provides a primary roll in preparation of the annual audit.
Planning & Zoning
Within the department the secretary is responsible for processing building applications, providing building and zoning code information to the public and coordinating plan review and inspection services for construction projects. The Village contracts out inspection services and detailed plan review.
Clerk
The Village of Diamond operates under the commission form of government. The commission form of government consists of a Mayor and four commissioners who serve as the council. The council by majority vote designates each member as commissioner of accounts and finances, public health and safety, streets and public improvements, and public property. The Mayor serves as the liquor commissioner and commissioner of public affairs. Each commissioner has executive control over any administrative departments that are assigned.
Public Works
The Commissioners of Streets and Alleys and Water and Sewer work closely with the Village’s Maintenance Supervisor. There are 3 full-time employees within the Public Works Department. They include Maintenance Supervisor, Water and Sewer Operator and General Streets and Utility Worker.
This department is responsible for the handling of maintenance issues throughout the Village including but not limited to, street repair, mowing, tree trimming, snow plowing, water main repair and running of the sewer and water plants.
