Grundy County Provides Update on Vaccination Plans

MORRIS, IL – The Grundy County Health Department will be offering COVID-19 vaccines through our office on
Friday, October 8th from 9:00am-1:00pm. This includes first, second, third and booster doses. The Health
Department is located in the Grundy Administration Building at 1320 Union Street, Morris.

No appointments will be needed. Walk-ins are welcome.

You will be eligible to receive a booster as long as it has been at least six months since you received the second
dose of the Pfizer vaccine and you fall in one of the categories below:
• Anyone 65 years old and older
• Anyone age 18-64 who has one of the following conditions:

Overweight or obesity
o Diabetes
o Long term (chronic) Kidney disease
o High blood pressure
o Long term lung disease like COPD
o Dementia
o Down’s syndrome
o Heart conditions
o A weakened immune system
o Liver disease
o Pregnancy
o Sickle cell disease
o History of organ transplant
o History of smoking
o Stroke
o Substance use disorder
• Anyone age 18-64 who is at high risk for COVID-19 exposure due to their job as a:
o First responder (healthcare workers, firefighters, police, congregate care staff)
o Education staff (teachers, support staff, daycare worker)
o Food and agriculture worker
o Manufacturing worker
o Corrections worker
o U.S. Postal Service worker
o Public transit worker
o Grocery store worker

THIRD DOSE: Pfizer or Moderna
To be eligible for a third dose, you must have received either Pfizer or Moderna (not J&J) for your first two
doses, have a weakened immune system (see list of qualifying conditions below) and it has been at least 28
days since receiving your second dose. This is not considered a booster.
Qualifying conditions to receive a third dose include:
• Receiving active cancer treatment for solid tumors or cancers of the blood
• Receiving an organ transplant and taking medicine to suppress the immune system
• Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldric syndrome)
• Advanced or untreated HIV infection
• Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress the immune response

Eligibility Guidelines for Vaccine:
Moderna Vaccine
 Must be 18 years old or older.
Pfizer Vaccine
 Must be 12 years or older. If under the age of 14 you MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian. If between the ages of 14-17 you MUST be accompanied by another adult and have a
completed Minor Consent Form if a parent/legal guardian is not with you.

 Must be 18 years old or older.
